Check this out. In the wake of NIU, I don't think that students carrying concealed weapons is the answer. The article reports on Utah's liberal gun laws that allow students to carry concealed weapons on college campuses. I think my favorite tidbit of info in the article is this one:
"The only places on campus that have restrictions are the dormitories. Students can request a roommate who doesn't carry a gun."
Thankfully I didn't have to request a non-gun toting roommate when I was in college. However, it would have been much more helpful if I could have requested a roommate that didn't wear daisy dukes, have stuffed animals or go to bed at 9pm. Now that would have been useful!

A Hello Kitty Gun to Match Your Toaster?
Check it out...
Now, every kid on the block can get a gun to match their outfit - perfect for the college student who likes to look "put together" when he's off to class. Considering all that has happened at NIU, do we really neeed this?

I Heart Beans
I just started my day out by reading this little educational piece. I especially liked the comments that people posted in response - especially Sam Zell.

Flu Shots are Ineffective
So, my dear friend hazeldove was kind enough to point out that I have been m.i.a. on my blog. true dat. It's been a while and there's a number of poor excuses (the first one being that i've been lazy).
Work has also picked up quite a bit compared to the pre-holiday dry spell when it seemed like I had the entire workday to surf the web, blog, and complain about people, but now the government mule is making me work. And I ain't happy about it. I'm bored with my jobbie job - I wanna' work here or here. Especially the former. (Note: they are hiring a communications assistant and that would be an awesome job.)
So hazeldove - do you need to hire a Chicago publishing rep or assistant for your midwest office? I'm available.
In all seriousness - it's been a busy month. My ladyfriend and are going to co-habitate and right now we're getting ready for the move. Last night we painted the spare bedroom "sandstone" - now hazeldove and darkpony have a room of their own when they come to visit. (I wonder when that will be?) When my ladyfriend does move in - i'll be adopting her sweet little kitty kat - Ebby aka puker aka bobcat aka tiger aka princess ebulina aka mreoooooooowwwwwwww.
We also took a vacation to Florida at the end of February - that was nice and relaxing - and neither one of us drank nearly enough to make it seem like it was spring break. I'm not sure if that's a good or a bad thing. We didn't quite think our flight would make it back to Chicago without delay because of the blizzard in Chicago the day before. But we did make it back a-okay and just in time for me to come down with the bird flu. Whatever this little bug is, after two full weeks of being sick, I still feel like the shit on the bottom of someone's shoe.
So there you have it - that's why I've been m.i.a. Like everything else that I am way behind on, I promise I'm working on it.
