Generation Gap

I consider myself to be fairly tech-savy. While I can't program a computer, I am pretty crafty with desktop publishing and photo editing. I know how to do some serious google stalking (as many can attest) and look up shit on wikipedia; I play crosswords online and bank online. However, I still have a love for the paper page and all of its tactile and hidden wonders. For example, there is something fascinating about using the dictionary to look up one word and find a treasure trove of other words that you you've never seen or always wanted to know how to spell. It's kind of like the precursor to websurfing where one page or bit of information takes you through a slalom course of other bits. Right? Or am I the only book nerd out there?

All this is to say how annoying it was when the intern came into my office and saw me using the dictionary (Gasp!) and made fun of me. WTF? This kid can't even use Outlook and Excel without some assistance. Seriously - he didn't know how to type an email address into the "To:" box. Grrrrr.
